As she silently thought she was going to die in the basement, the alarm went off again. She emerged from the tunnel terrified as the creatures fled. When she reached the door she had entered, it was gone. It was replaced by a dead end, just as she was in captivity. She was terrified because she didn’t want to evoke the worst. “Will I be imprisoned here?” Sinking into the floor in despair, she thought.
She knew she had to get back to Earth and warn everyone about the impending invasion, but she was paralyzed. She was stuck in a bind. She saw large rats entering a hole that somehow led to her apartment and heard sounds that sounded like rustling nearby in a matter of seconds. She proceeded in that direction and with shaky hands, she picked up her phone from her bed and dialed her best friend’s number.

‘Hi Abiodun, How have you been? I have been unable to reach you. Where have you been for six weeks? Have you been avoiding me? I didn’t mean to kiss you,’ David said, agitated. ‘Hi David, No, I haven’t… Six weeks, what? What do you mean?’ She asked in shock. She had only been in the tunnel for 20 minutes. ‘Yes’, David continued, ‘You haven’t been picking up your calls, and each time I checked on you, you never answered the door, even if I could hear your TV on. I thought you didn’t want to talk to me.’ He concluded.
‘No, David, I have only been away for like 20 minutes. I went into my basement and stumbled into a weird place that looked like an alien world. In fact, I need to warn everyone about them invading Earth.’ She said it in exasperation. ‘Who is invading? What’s going on with you? Have you been drinking? Can I come over?’ He asked, worried. ‘No! Yes! Oh David, I mean, I have not been drinking and Yes, you can come over right now!’ She replied in fear.

She ended the call and switched off her TV. After 30 minutes, she could hear David’s car pull up in the driveway. She opened the door, and he came in looking worried for her. ‘Yeah, I look a mess. Do you really mean that I have been away for six weeks?’ She asked as she glanced at the calendar. She checked her phone and realized that she had missed a lot of calls from David, work, and a few relatives. She had a lot of unanswered emails and chats as well.
David made her a cup of tea and warm water for her bath. He was concerned about her and wondered if she was just imagining things. ‘Your encounter…’ he started as she sipped her tea after her bath. ‘You sure about this? Can you show me the door to the basement?’ She shook her head in fear as she said, ‘I don’t want to go back there.’ ‘No, you are not. I just want you to show me where it is,’ he assured her.
He opened the door and peeped into the dark tunnel. He decided to go out of curiosity to confirm what Abiodun had told him about the alien world. ‘No David, don’t go in!’ Abiodun screamed at him in fear, but he was long gone. ‘David! David!’ She screamed into the tunnel but got no response.
