When we ask the meaning of love and career choices, we are constantly being told to chase everything; chase love, chase success, chase recognition. But what if the very best things in life are not to be chased? What if the most sincere love, the most fulfilling career, and even the most profitable investments are those that choose us back?

This is true not only in relationships but also in the professional world. No matter your search, the most meaningful connections are mutual.

Today’s post invites you to consider what it is to choose who, what, and where chooses you.

Meaning of love and career choices

I chased after doors that never opened,
and knocked until my knuckles ached.
I sat in rooms that didn't want me,
quietly,
scavenging for crumbs of acknowledgment.

But one morning, I stopped
I let silence answer,
and I found freedom there.

The right people don't make you beg,
the right job doesn't suck the life from you.
The right love doesn't torment you
for being you.

Life began to bloom differently
when I realized
I wasn't made to pursue things
that never wanted to stay.

Scenario 1: Love That Chooses You

How many of us stay in relationships where we’re just tolerated, not loved? We nurture concrete and hope flowers will grow. But love that chooses you is different:

It keeps no record.
It doesn’t profit from exploitation.
It doesn’t punish vulnerability.

While flowers bend towards the sun, so does the authentic love bend towards you as well. You don’t have to push it into the darkness.

Scenario 2: Career That Align

Think of the graduate who applies for dozens of jobs, and gets rejected or ignored. And then one day, she comes across a degree apprenticeship UK program that not only welcomes her but also invests in her growth.

That is the power of mutual choice.
It’s not always about you trying to prove yourself;
It’s about the workplace saying:
We see you. We value you. We choose you back.

Success at work does not have to mean constant begging. The right opportunity feels more like walking into a room that is intended for you to thrive in.

Scenario 3: Business That Resonates

Imagine an entrepreneur chasing ads, begging customers to notice them, struggling in vain. Now compare that with a company that attracts its customers naturally, because it invests in content writing packages, PR campaigns, and event management services with the right Marketing and PR agency that advocates for it.

The right business strategy doesn’t chase sales; it attracts loyalty.

Scenario 4: Family and Belonging

Others spend a lifetime attempting to earn the love of families that refuse to give it. Family isn’t based on bloodlines however; it’s the people who choose to stand with you through storms.

When family chooses to love you back, it has nothing to do with duty, it’s love that shows up.
It’s the cousin who calls on the phone, the friend who becomes a brother or sister, the community gives you that belonging.

Scenario 5: The Power of Place

Not every city or dwelling is for you. Some city or dwelling sucks the life from you through excessive cost, loneliness, or cultural misfit. But then there’s this one city, this one dwelling, where you feel seen.

For some, it’s London with its blend of ambition and history. For some, it’s Lagos, with its raw energy and unbreakable spirit. For some, it’s USA, China, or any other place that feels like home. The place that chooses you gives you shelter and belonging.

Extended Poem: Mutual Choosing

I stopped running after closed doors.
I stopped trying to fix what never wanted to be whole.

And slowly...
the world began to meet me halfway.

The friend who stayed with no strings attached,
the work that repaid with tranquility,
the lover whose "I love you"
was not read from a page.

Life is simpler when you do not chase after storms.
Let sunshine catch you,
let waves carry you,
let the road rise up to meet you.

Because the true magic lies not in chasing
Be chosen.

Closing Reflections

Choosing who, what, and where picks you does not mean you are waiting. I call it a powerful acknowledgement of your worth. It’s a declaration that your worth isn’t based on how badly you need, but on how confidently you wait for the next right thing.

With love, it’s not shrinking for the ease of others.
With career, it’s pursuing what values growth.
In business, collaborations with the right partners that tell your truth.
In life, finding the spaces and beings that feel like home.

So this is the truth: Stop running where you’re tolerated. Begin waiting where you are chosen. Because when choices choose you, you survive and you thrive.
